Over the years I have always heard a lot of talk about Black Friday shopping but I have never really put much though into it or looked it up until recently and what I saw was appalling. To think that people can be this inhumane about shopping is actually disgusting. There are many people all over the world that do not have enough money to put food on their table and these people on Black Friday basically kill each other over MATERIAL goods. Something just does not add up here, society goes to some deep lows at times but this is actually out of control and I realize that this is all about consumerism and making the economy some money but there should be a little bit of balance here. It is amazing and scary to see the lengths that some people will go to buy something that is not even a necessity merely because it is on sale.

Oppressed Students
Unoriginal
and void, this is how much of the world looks at children going into school
and this is people look at kids when it comes to the banking method. The
banking method is where children are empty pots waiting for knowledge to be dropped
into them. This severely suppresses creativity in children. At the age of a
child’s first days of school a child is extremely imaginative and creative,
they are also not held back by bias and polluted thoughts that society could
cast upon them. It is once children are brought into school and forced to think
and do things that schools want them to, is when they start to lose all of
their magic and creativity. It is so uncommon to see people overflowing
creativity today’s society because we are all pre-set and continuously taught
to think the same way.

Ideology of Equality
In 2012 we live in a
world where equality is an ideology that is constantly being fought for, but
yet is somehow never achieved. We want equality for women, we want equality for
marriage, and we want equality for minorities, but yet with all the
determination to achieve this equality in society our world is taking very
small steps in creating it. After hundreds of years we have overcome many obstacles;
the United States now have an African American president, women are now in the
work force and gay marriage is not being accepted in certain places. But does
this mean that racism and discrimination are now unknown terms to our society?
Of course not, our world is still very much controlled by the white middle
class men of our society, what they say is what ends up being the deciding
factor. Why is it that our world is so intimidated by change? Why are so many
people against two people of the same sex being in love, or a woman having a
higher salary than a man?

Nationalism
Nationalism, it is
something that is felt deep within you, strong feelings about certain things
for reason that may not even be known to you. This is an ideology that is
present within every one of us that expresses our love for our nation. Think
back to a time when you have felt great pride in your country, did you feel the
pride because of something that directly benefited you? Probably not, then why
would one feel this pride? For the most part people are very selfish beings and
they live their life for themselves and the people that are closest to them. So
how does it make sense that they feel this overwhelming pride when their
country wins an Olympic medal or a sports team from their country wins a
national cup?
Sexuality education
The following video discusses
two different views on sexual education, one view is taken from an American psychiatrist
and the other is taken from a doctor in New Zealand. New Zealand has amazing
low numbers when it comes to teen pregnancy and STI outbreaks and this is a
result of having good sex education taught within their schools. But even with
these results some people like the American doctor, do not believe that these
topics should be talked about in schools, they believe that the only place that
students should hear about these issue is at home with their parents. But what happens
when parents the parents do not want to talk to their children about sex
either? Then where do kids get their information from? With todays’ society the
media has such a large influence on teens that if they do not get educated on
sex and other related relations they will follow what they see on the media
because they think it is “cool” and the “normal” thing to do.

Irish Discrimination.
This is a musical picture video i found on Irish discrimination in the view point of an Irish man. In this video he speaks of how they are just like any other immigrants except for the fact that for some reason they were not accepted and we not able to apply for many jobs and live a happy life where they felt accepted by society.
Whiteness
The
color of one’s skin is sadly an indicator of their status and power within the
world, or at least this is what I have always been taught within my school
systems and in society. Although, in the last few years I have realized that
there is in fact an exception to every rule. It is not always true that the
color of your skin represents where you stand in this world, it is actually a combination
of the color of your skin and how you live/how society sees you and interrupts
yours actions and way of life. I have seen power in a new view since opening my
eyes a little wider since learning about the Irish and about a term that McIntosh
likes to call whiteness. I have also used this new knowledge and reflected it
on my own life and how I myself am impacted by whiteness.
Panopticism
Imagine
a world in which you were constantly being watched, not just when people are
around but every moment of your life. Would things change? Would you act the
same as if you were not being watched? I did not think so, when you are being
watched or even get that feeling of being watched you no longer do things the
same because you know that you are being judged and observed and make a
conscious effort to appear in your own ideal way. This world that you are
imagining right now does exist in many different concepts one being facebook.
The whole idea of acting differently while knowing one is being watched was put
into place with Faucoult’s panopticon prison lay out. Faucoult realized that
with people knowing that they are being watched they would self-discipline
themselves.
Ideologies
Doctors, military, gangs, and servers, at first glance it
will look at though these different groups of people have next to nothing in
common and that is true. Except for the fact that each of these groups have
their own ideologies, which means that these groups all have their own
language, way of living, ways of thinking, and concepts in order to server
their purpose in society. This is at least my take on what ideology is and the
more I think about it the easier it is for me to think of how many ideologies
come to mind, they are all around us. They shape our world, if we did not have
ideologies we would all be too much alike and this cannot be the case for our
world.
